Richard Harris, station manager, said: “This year is going to be big. We’re all very excited. We intend to reach out to the community even more this year, and will be doing a lot of broadcasts in and around town. Watch out for us, and come and say hello.”

In April, the station was awarded a full-time community radio licence by Ofcom, allowing the station to become full-time.

Richard added: “We’ve got two years to set up and intend to use that time to the max. Until then, we simply continue to bring quality homemade material to Bexhill: a town which we all love.”

Over the years, Bexhill FM has covered many big events, including the annual Bexhill Lions Triathlon events and the running of the Olympic Torch live from the De La Warr Pavilion in 2012.

Bexhill-born comedian Eddie Izzard has supported the station both in the studio and outside, becoming one of Bexhill FM’s biggest fans.

Shows this year include a range of new and old voices, such as the classic Joe Miller’s Drivetime, ever popular Richard Harris at Breakfast, The Gemma and Julia Show, DJ Dan Joseph, The Super Sassy Rock Show and many more.

There are still a few advertising slots available. If anyone wishes to support the radio station email [email protected].

The station is airing from 9am on July 9 to July 22, and invites Bexhill and surrounding areas to join them on 87.7 or online at bexhillfm.org.
