During the course of the meeting those present heard about the work being done to provide police patrols in the area and to reduce sales of alcohol to those under age in the town.

Police inspector Richard Allum said: 'Police patrols will continue on a regular basis in the area and anyone caught offending will be dealt with, but we also need to look at wider solutions and that is where the action team will be important.

'As always parents have an important role to play in knowing where their children are and what they are doing in the evenings.

'The town council and possibly the County Council can assist and I was very pleased that Louise Eastwood, the local mayor joined us at the meeting.

'Several positive ideas were put forward which we can pursue in partnership with the residents and the local authorities."
