Big breakfast - it's Sussex-style

BED and Breakfast owners and food and drink producers from across Sussex tucked into brunch at the Battle Golf Club to launch the Sussex Breakfast.

The aim of the initiative is to promote local food and drink and attract more visitors to the county. Eggs, bacon, sausages, milk and juice were among the delights served, most of the produce never having left Sussex.

Kevin Boorman, of 1066 Country Marketing, said: "We are trying to attract high-quality spending visitors to Hastings and 1066 country and know the people we are targeting are attracted to good local food. It helps local food producers and local business economy, and it's good for the environment because it clocks up less food miles."

The event was jointly funded by the Wealden and Rural Rother Partnership, based at Battle, and Tourism South East, but led by 1066 Country Marketing, and carried out by the Netherfield Centre, which is part of Plumpton College.
