Bexhill Academy has launched its Bike Fit Project as part of its work in encouraging young people into healthy lifestyles.

The academy has 15 spin bikes situated in the Heart Space area for use by the student and staff community.

As well as running Bike Fit classes for students and staff, the bikes are being used for competition within the House Cup Challenge.

Houses compete on a weekly basis to see which can cycle the most miles.

The academy also runs a term-time Tour competition, with students having the chance to compete for the famous Yellow Jersey and the King of the Mountain titles to earn points for their Houses.

Staff competed on Wednesday, September 15 as part of the National Cycle To Work Day scheme.

Special mention in Week 1 should go to Rowan Crouch in Year 7, Cambridge House, who cycled nearly 28km in his lunch time. He said: “The spin bikes are a way of keeping really fit and making friends.”
