Bishop to visit St Peter's

A SPECIAL visitor will be coming to St Peter's parish for the informal Time For God service.

He is Bishop Lindsey Irwin, area bishop of Horsham in the Diocese of Chichester.

TFG, as it is known, has been running for more than six years, and meets at 9.45am every Sunday in St Peter's Community Centre.

It provides an informal, alternative service to the more traditional service held at the same time in St Peter's Church.

From time to time visiting speakers are welcomed, and so TFG is looking forward to Bishop Lindsay's visit.

Once a month TFG takes the form of an All Age Service, meaning that the children remain for the whole time instead of going to Sunday School, and this will be the format on February 17.

TFG's own worship band will provide the music. TFG attracts people of all ages, and from time to time its members join with the traditional congregation for a combined more informal Eucharist. The next combined service will be for Mothering Sunday on March 2).

However every week everyone meets together after both services for coffee in the Community Centre.
