Blazes galore stretch crews

A MAJOR timber blaze in Worthing, two further fires in the town, another in Arundel and a serious fire at a large country house in Arundel on Sunday kept fire services stretched in the county.

Worthing beach huts were threatened by a large fire in stacked timber on the beach at Marine Parade, Worthing in the early hours of Sunday.

Around 50 firefighters fought the blaze which is believed to have been started by arsonists. The fire was contained to a 30m by 10m pile of timber, part of the cargo washed ashore from the Ice Prince ship.
