Blooming great Rustington kids

CREATIVE, green-fingered pupils saw their designs become a reality.

As part of the 2009 Rustington In Bloom campaign, the parish council set a competition for children at Rustington Community Primary School, to design a flower bed for the grass area in front of the Southern Water pumping station in Broadmark Lane.

The In Bloom committee chose Grace Harper as the winner, and Emily Lade and Sarah Pawley as the runners up, and all three were invited to help Ferring Nurseries plant the colourful design last week.

Grace was presented with a 20 book voucher, with Emily and Sarah scooping a 10 voucher each.

Last year, Rustington won a gold medal in the South East in Bloom competition, and was invited to take part in the national stage of the contest.

This year, the South East judging will take place on Thursday(July 16), and August 4 is set as the date for the Britain in Bloom judges to visit.
