Geoffrey Goodsell, 13 Levetts Lane

First many thanks for all the cards and presents that I had for my 18th birthday (joke) and the very nice meal I had with sister and family at the Cross Inn, Staplecross.

Next service at St Giles is the Family Service on March 3 at 11.15am. Easter is not far off and the services are: a Good Friday service at 11.15am on March 29 and Easter Sunday service on March 31 at 11.15am.

Our vicar has a new job. Gordon is to be chaplain to the High Sheriff of East Sussex, Graham Peters from the village. Gordon has said that the chaplain at one time if a murder case was being tried, the High Sheriff’s chaplain had to attend because in the event of sentence of death being pronounced to say Amen at the end of sentence. This will not be necessary this year. If it was, Gordon would be overworked if we still had the sentence of death.

Speedwatch is a community-led initiative supported by Sussex Police and East Sussex County Council, which trains members of the community to use special detection devices and monitor the speed of vehicles using our roads in Bodiam. Full training will be given to all members. For more information please call Bodiam PCSO Demi Georghiou on 07788900849.

Dear Helen Dawson has told me she had a very good 90th birthday on February 21 with a phone call from Gordon the vicar, a visit from Phyllis Landels and one from the chairman of the parish council and from her family Isabel and Keith, who do a lot to help and support her. And Helen says she could not go on without her very best daughter Isabel.
