Bodiam village voice

Please all local dog walkers and visitors to Bodiam - if you walk around the recreation ground, children have sports days and do sometimes play.

The parish council has a dog bin. Can dog walkers not see it? But perhaps walkers must have an eye test. Also round Bodiam Castle, the staff do their best to deal with the dog mess, so the National Trust are giving out free bags to help combat this and promote responsible dog ownership. Let’s hope all this will work so we can have castle grounds and recreation grounds which are an enjoyable place for everyone.

The cricket club are away to Burwash on August 5, start at 2pm. On August 25-27 the club go on a tour of West Sussex. Time goes by so fast. Nine fixtures to the end of the season.

Next service at St Giles is the Family Service on August 5 at 11.15am. A car was inside St Giles the other week. It was for a service.

Bodiam Church of England Primary School have a big day on August 27. It will be the Fun Day and Dog Show, noon-4pm at Bodiam Recreation Ground. Fantastic family fun day out.

I have some very good news about the St Giles Church Flower Festival. In spite of the dreadful weather, the event was a huge success and raised over £1,200 for church funds. All the displays have many lovely comments, I am told.

Val Smith, Rother Community Friends Development Officer, has had a very encouraging response for Community Friends for Bodiam. A big thank you to all residents who took the time to complete the questionnaire. It is hoped that an open meeting will take place after the summer. Val’s phone number is 01424 217259 or mobile 077102898.

The large dustbins outside of the Church of England Primary School in the Main Street do not help to sell the school and do not make it look clean and tidy with the mess that was round them the other day. But a big thank you to the people who tidied it all up round the bins, but I am sure they do not wish to do this every week.
