Bognor charity gig raises thousands for charities

The members of eight bands appeared at the fundraising night for free.

They were The Rox Band, Golden Boulder, The Feel, Soul Intentions, Bullett, Dave Hooper Band, The RoxStars and The Unknowns.

They delighted the large audience who went along to the Riverside Caravan Centre for a concert of the best in local music.

The enthusiastic response of those both on and off the stage enabled £2,510 to be raised.

The proceeds will be split between the TOFS/Vacterl Association and the Williams Syndrome Foundation charities.

Bognor parents Lee Hooper, whose 13-year-old son Zak Hooper has Williams syndrome, and Susan Nicholls, mum of teenager Jasmine Nicholls, organised the concert.

Jasmine said: “We would like to say thank you to all the bands and also to Robert Dyas for supplying so many amazing prizes for the tombola and raffle that evening.”

Jasmine, 17, has needed specialist treatment since birth to correct defects associated with VACTERL condition. One child in every 6,250 births will have some form of VACTERL association defects to make the condition rare.

Williams Syndrome is a condition that affects major blood vessels, muscle tone, emotional, physical and mental strengths and weaknesses. In spite of this, Zak delighted the audience by playing the drums on Shake, Rattle and Roll with the Dave Hooper Band.

This was the third joint charity concert staged by the mums.
