Bognor duo face the dragons

Two entrepeneurs from Bognor Regis felt the flames when their idea was rejected by BBC 2's Dragons' Den on Monday (July 28), in front of millions of viewers.

Annette Denby and Paul Hartley of Reg and Ruby Pet Accessories Ltd, Shripney Road, stood in front of the five dragons to present their '˜greet me, eat me' edible greetings cards for dogs.

They went on to the show asking for 20,000 in return for a 10 per cent stake in the product.

'The experience was incredibly nerve-wracking being up there in front of five millionaires who you normally watch on television,' said Annette, a partner of the pet business.

'We were in there for an hour and a lot was not shown on TV.

'Theo and Deborah Meadon liked the product but did not want to invest.

'We came away with some very constructive comments.'

Annette and Paul presented the edible card to the dragons, which had four slits in to write a greetings message. They can also be sent in the post. However Dragon Peter Jones wasn't too impressed with the idea.

On the show he said: 'I can't believe people go out and buy cards and write little messages in them.

'I've got a dog. I know it happens but I'm not going to spend my life socialising with these people to be honest. It worries me. So I'm out.'
