Bognor referendum: what's proposed by developers

The initial proposals revealed by St Modwen earlier this year are for a combined theatre and cinema venue to replace the Regis Centre.

A ten-pin bowling alley is also envisaged.

Bars and restaurants form part of the leisure package as well. A new library could also be built there.

On top will be 168 flats in a development going up some seven storeys.

The opposite side of the beach would see an eye-catching building with a restaurant on the first floor and some small shops possibly below.

The company wants to close part of The Esplanade in front of the site to create a pedestrian area and link the seafront more with the town centre.

For the Hothamton car park off Queensway, St Modwen plans 20,000sq ft of offices, a new health centre and a sizeable food store with a quality national operator promised. The scheme would also comprise a 30-storey block of some 180 flats to create a new landmark for Bognor.

More public parking is promised overall for both sites than the current amount.

The Fitzleet multi-storey car park on the opposite side of Queensway will also benefit from being revamped.
