Bognor Regis cinema petition gathers strength

BACKERS of the cinema in Bognor Regis still have time to support it in writing.

A petition for the Picturedrome’s survival from the town’s civic society continues to gather strength.

An updated total has not been calculated but the society’s deputy chairman, Hugh Coster, said signed petition sheets were arriving daily.

“The petition is growing all the time,” he said. “There are still a lot of people who want to sign up. We will be keeping the petition open until we think there is no more demand for it.”

The petition calls on Arun District Council to protect the Picturedrome by refusing to allow a rival cinema to be built on its land such as the Regis Centre site.

Copies of the petition can be signed at the Picturedrome and town centre locations such as Youngs 99p shop and Bon Bon.
