Bognor residents urged to voice crime concerns

Less than three weeks is left for Bognor Regis area residents to state their biggest crime fears.

A survey into the law and order issues which most affect people closes on August 31.

It is being run by the Safer Arun Partnership whose members want to know the top three priorities for action in their local area.

The issues from which they can choose are violent crime, anti-social behaviour, vandalism and graffiti, domestic violence, hate crime, burglary, theft, alcohol misuse, drug crime and road safety.

Partnership member Roger Elkins, Arun District Council's member for community safety, said: "Although we are lucky to live in a very safe part of the country, there are still issues that need to be addressed.

"With the current budget restrictions, it's really important to be able to focus our resources where they are most needed.

"This survey gives residents an ideal opportunity to influence this."

The partnership replaced the Arun crime and disorder reduction partnership last April 1. Its members include the district and county councils, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and Western Sussex NHS.

This is the first survey to be carried out by the partnership. It can be filled in online through the www.saferarun.gov.uk website.

Paper copies of the form are available from Bognor Regis Town Hall and the town's police station.

All those who complete the survey will go into a draw to win a 50 first prize and 25 second prize of M&S vouchers.
