Bognor's royal links on TV

A TV series will focus on the royal connections of Bognor Regis tonight.

The latest edition of By Royal Appointment sees presenter Hannah Scott-Joynt visit the town and talk to local historian and councillor Sylvia Olliver.

The programme can be seen at 7.30pm on Meridian. Mrs Olliver said she expected it to mainly feature the famous stay of King George V and Queen Mary in 1929.

Among the locations visited was St Thomas a'Becket Church in Pagham where a window is dedicated to Queen Mary. She also mentioned to the producers the Royal Norfolk Hotel, where Emperor Bonaparte III was a guest, and the town's links with Queen Victoria and the Duchess of Kent.

As well as Bognor, the programme-makers also filmed the Earl of March at Goodwood House.
