Bonfire revival crowds bring bigboost for charity

Charities will benefit from Burgess Hill Bonfire Society’s successful comeback night.

The society revived its parade, bonfire, and fireworks evening in September after having to call it off in 2011 because of a shortage of help.

It has now shared out the street collection to the charities nominated on the big night.

The charities are Action for Deafness, whose cheque was presented by Doug Stewart, Cancervive, presented by Jamie Penfold, Burgess Hill Boys’ Club, presented by Phil Cross, and Hope in the Valley presented by Jamie Penfold and Kez Woodward. Each received £671.

The society holds its annual general meeting at 8pm on February 19 at the Brewers Arms, London Road, Burgess Hill.

The meeting is open to the public and the society says it would welcome any new members and offers of assistance.
