Bonnie's bundle of joy after battered dreams

Bonnie Morgan, 27, of Roundwood Road, has lost so many children through miscarriages.

It got to the stage where everyone in the family would try not to get their hopes up whenever Bonnie became pregnant.

The heartache hit her 13-year-old son Dean the hardest as he always dreamed of having a little brother or sister.

But Bonnie, a care assistant, has now given birth to a baby boy whose full name is Craig Junior Dean Morgan, after undergoing expensive IVF treatment.

Bonnie said: "I was hoping for a natural birth but due to his large size doctors advised me to have a Caesarean section.

"I gave birth to Craig two weeks early. Doctors expected him to weigh 10 pounds but he was eight pound five ounces when he was born on March 31 at the Conquest.

"He has a big birth mark on his head which gives him character."

Bonnie said her teenage son, who attends The Grove, 'dotes' on his baby brother.

She said: "He coped through all the previous miscarriages with us so Craig is very much loved and wanted.

"My partner Craig is also over the moon and looking forward to his son turning 16 when he is 50."

The mother-of-two has been trying to have more children for four years.

She had a miscarriage in 2002 and then an ectopic pregnancy in 2003.

Her dreams were again cruelly cut short when she had another ectopic pregnancy while she was expecting twins.

Doctors advised her to have IVF treatment, which has cost her more than 3,500.

In 1999 it was discovered Bonnie had endometriosis and had to have a cyst removed in an operation.

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilised egg attaches itself outside the cavity of the womb.

The woman always miscarries.

Bonnie was suffering from stomach pains for two years because of endometriosis.

The condition means cells normally found in the lining of the womb are found in other areas of the body.

Bonnie said: "My first ectopic pregnancy hit me quite badly. It was very devastating for us."

The mother had to take extra drugs to thin the blood in order for the IVF treatment to have any chance of success.

She was also scanned in hospital fortnightly. Bonnie found out she was to give birth to a baby boy last December.
