The Sussex team was in Group 2 with Berkshire, Hampshire & IOW, Wiltshire and Surrey at Surbiton in Surrey, and beat both Berkshire and Hampshire & IOW 4-0 on the first day.

They led 2-1 after singles against Wiltshire and did the same against Surrey. An excellent performance in the doubles ensured they go to the Bolton Arena later this month for the national finals.

Meanwhile, Gina Bielski (14) from West Worthing won the Sussex Road To Wimbledon event and played in the final of the Rose Bowl at the Eastbourne International Women's Open. She beat Olivia Crowhurst of Amherst 6-0, 6-0 in the semi-final and Anna Woosely of Middleton 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (5) in the final.
