Charlie Green, a Year 6 pupil at Sedlescombe Primary, is leaving the school later this month to move to secondary school.

Charlie wanted to find his own special way to say thank you to his old school for all its help and support over the past seven years.

So he decided to embark on a sponsored walk - despite finding walking difficult because of his condition.

So on Wednesday July 3, Charlie put his best his best foot forward for a sponsored walk from Battle to Sedlescombe.

Accompanied by friend Tiggy Webb, Charlie successfully completed the five mile walk, without the aid of his wheelchair.

Charlie has raised more than £500 for Sedlescombe Primary School - and the total is still rising.

Headteacher Marian Ham praised young Charlie for completing the fundraiser.

She said: “Charlie’s walk was brilliant.

“He walked all of the five miles and did not use his wheelchair at all, which was amazing.

“He is hoping to raise £1000, but around £500 is the current approximate figure.”

Charlie is going to present the money to Marian at the final school assembly of the year, which will also be Charlie’s final assembly at the school.

Marian said: “We will spend the money on resources to support children with special needs, which is Charlie’s wish.”
