Fox has been charged with three counts of indecent assault, one on a female under the age of 14 and two on females under 16.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 1991 and 1996.

The force has also charged him with four counts of indecent assault of a female over 16, and two further counts of sexual assaults, alleged to have happened to three victims between 2003 and 2014.

The DJ started his career in local radio and Radio Luxembourg before joining Capital Radio in 1987 where he presented the evening show twice a week and the Saturday morning show.

He was a judge on Pop Idol and presented other ITV1 shows before leaving Capital in 2005 after 18 years to go to Magic 105.4 where he presented the breakfast show, Foxy in the Morning.

He currently is not hosting the show.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police added this was not part of Operation Yewtree into historic sex offences, set up in the wake of revelations about Jimmy Savile.
