A spokesman for British Transport Police said officers were on the scene but added that there was ‘no suggestion’ the man had been hit by a train.
He said: “We were called at 3.56pm to a report of a man on the tracks at West Worthing railway station. We have attended along with our colleagues from the ambulance services.
“It seems there is a man on the tracks. At the moment it seems he has fallen on the tracks accidentally.
