BREAKING NEWS: two rescued from sea at Littlehampton

TWO swimmers, one of them an 84-year-old man, were rescued after getting into difficulties off Littlehampton beach this afternoon (Monday, July 6).

It's thought that strong winds, gusting up to 40 knots, led to the pensioner and a girl aged 13 struggling in the challenging conditions.

Littlehampton's inshore lifeboat and the Coastguard rescue helicopter were involved in the rescue. The two swimmers were taken back onto dry land and then to hospital, but it's not thought that they were seriously injured.
