BREAKING: Worthing man charged with robbery

A MAN from Worthing will appear in court accused of attacking a hotel guest and attempting to steal his car in Fontwell.

Police were called to the Travelodge in Arundel Road, Fontwell, after the guest was attacked in the car park by two men who stole his grey Ford Mondeo shortly after 12.30am on Sunday, November 3.

The guest had been punched in the face, suffering a fractured cheekbone, and was knocked to the ground before his hand was stamped on so the men could take the keys to his car and drive off.

Richard Finneran, 20, of Rowlands Road, Worthing, and Terence Winter, 40, of Lancaster Place, Bognor, have been charged with robbery.

Officers were already in the area as they had been called to a report of two men in dark clothing acting suspiciously and looking at cars.

They arrested a 20-year-old man nearby and took him in for questioning. A 40-year-old was later arrested in Bognor.

Winter will appear at Chichester Crown Court on November 29. Finneran will appear at the same court on December 6.
