Friday 6 December as usual in Brede Village Hall Brede Farmers Market is open from 10am – noon. The Short Mat Bowlers follow in the hall at 7.30pm. Also at 7.30pm in St Georges Church the entertainment will be ‘Local Choirs in Concert’ an evening of Christmas music and verse for the family to enjoy. Refreshments, and a paid bar will be available. Tickets costing £3.00 are available from the Rectory 01424 883408 or Steve Edwards 01424 882222

Saturday 7 December The Christmas Tree Festival at St Georges Church Brede opens at 10am – 4pm 22 trees are decorated by local village groups, the theme is Christmas past/ Christmas future. The festival will also include Christmas fare, Christmas crafts; Tombola, cake stalls, refreshments and a Grand draw with the 1st prize a trip in a helicopter for four people. In the Village Hall at 7.30pm the Village Dance takes place. It is very popular with people who like ballroom, latin and sequence dancing. In the Rainbow Trout Christmas Party night –Christmas meal and Disco for small or large parties – pre-bookings only.

Sunday 8 December St Georges Church Brede will have a Family Eucharist at 9.30am followed by the 2nd day of the Christmas Tree Festival at 11am until 3pm when the Christingle Service begins. Do take your children/grandchildren along, it is a lovely service very suitable for even the very young all proceeds goes to the Children’s Society who began the event. At the Trinity Methodist Church the service will begin at 10.30am led by Mrs C Thacker. Live Music with Martin Blackman from 5pm in the Rainbow Trout.

Monday 9 December In the Village Hall Age Uk Daycentre will be talking about the news doing board games and use the memory ball. After lunch Judy, Larry and Ian are entertaining, they are very good and the members enjoy them very much. Any older person will be very welcome just phone 07850 987120; also in the main Hall Whist takes place at 7.30pm. In the small Hall Rainbows begin at 4.00pm followed at 5.30pm by the Brownies. In the Scout Hut Beavers begin at 5.30pm to 6.30pm, Cubs follow from 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Guides meet at Udimore Hall at 7.15pm

Tuesday 10 December the Painting for pleasure group meet in the Hall at 9.30am. The Mobile Library visits Oakhill Drive 3pm – 3.40pm Reedswood Road 3.50pm.

Wednesday 11 December WI Christmas Party 2.30pm in Brede Village Hall

Thurs 12 December – Kids Christmas card workshops – 9.30 – 11.30 and 3.30 – 5.30. Only £1 per child. And free mince pies for the parents Don’t forget that kids eat free until 6pm with every adult meal purchased and Curry Club is from 6pm. Friendly Circle are meeting at the Brickwall Hotel Sedlescombe for their Christmas Lunch 12 for 12.30pm. The Mobile Library visits to the Village Hall between 1.25pm – 1.55pm Design with Flowers are meeting at Sue Sturmy’s Home 1pm –3pm contact her on 01424 882544 next month it is back to the 3rd Thursday of the month but will be in Brede Church room 1pm – 3pm.

Friday 13 Brede Farmers Market 10am – noon It is still not too late to dedicate a light for someone you care about, the Tree is now up outside the Church with the lights attached; or to join the Champions of Brede. The winners for November are 1st prize £40 Mr D Houghton- 25, 2nd prize £30 Mrs C Palmer- 94, 3rd prize £20 Mr A Reynolds - 83 4th prize £15 Mrs C Hancock – 26, the big draw for £100 is this month. Both Andrew and Philip will be at the Farmers Market.

Monday 16 December Brede School Pupils are putting on a special performance of the Snow Queen at 2pm tickets are available from Father Martin Harper or the School for a suggested donation of £2
