BOBs RGC is the Broad Oak Recreation Ground Committee founded in 2011 to raise funds for new equipment which you may have seen or your children /grandchildren may have used. To date they have raised over £18,000 but up to another £50.000 is needed to buy more playground equipment which the children would like. The Committee need new and really passionate people to join their committee who also have time to carry out tasks such as helping with applying for grant applications and help run fundraising events in the community such as quiz nights. No experience is necessary but if you have applied for funding before that would be great. To find out more call Bruni Lovett - Chair 01424 883548 or Julie Ralph – Vice Chair 01424 882109.

The Brede Angling Club would like new members. They have held fishing rights to Kingwoodland pond in the heart of Brede since 1921 it is stocked with various fish such as Carp, Roach and Bream. It is and ideal place to for beginners to learn and for experienced anglers to while away the hours on the banks of an old traditional fishing venue in a very peaceful location, an atmosphere rarely found at bigger commercial fisheries. In addition to Kingwoodland Members have the opportunity to fish the Royal Military Canal from Scotts Float, Rye to Appledore as well as stretches of the River Rother at Bodiam, Neweneden, Udiam and Wittersham courtesy of the Rother Fisheries Association. Annual membership for those under 16 is £7 and £20 for the over 20s Contact John Fowler 01424 882841 or Aubrey Sinden 01424 882028 for Kingswoodland membership or for more information.

It has come to my notice that a survey is being conducted about the 340, 341 and 342 bus services that cover our villages. For those who do not have access to a computer Neil Maguire 01273 482147 is happy to send out survey forms. It is really important that these are completed and if there are petitions in the shops that these are filled in as our bus service may dwindle to less than we have now. If you have a computer you can access the survey by going to www.eastsussex.gov.uk/haveyoursay and follow the link for Hastings. I lifted the following from the site;

When am I eligible for an older person’s bus pass?

If you were born before 6 April 1950, you’re eligible for an older person’s bus pass from your 60th birthday. If you were born after 5 April 1950, the age you become eligible for a bus pass is linked to changes in the State Pension age for women. This affects both men and women.

Advance information.
