‘Bright, beautiful, talented’ Pulborough teenager dies
Bethany Jupp, 19, a former Collyer’s student who was studying English with Psychology at the University of Portsmouth, passed away on January 15.
A statement from Collyer’s read: “The principal and all staff at Collyer’s are extremely sad to hear this news.

Hide Ad“Bethany will be remembered with great affection as a bright, beautiful and very talented young woman.”
A report from the coroner’s service said her death occurred in Portsmouth. The circumstances of her death are listed as hanging, but it is to be investigated.
The news prompted an outpouring of grief from the university.
Professor Graham Galbraith, vice-chancellor of the university, said: “It is with great sadness I have learned that one of our first year students, Bethany Jupp, has died suddenly.

Hide Ad“Our thoughts are with Bethany’s family and friends, including fellow students with whom she lived and studied, all of whom have the full support of the university at this very difficult time.”
One of her tutors, Dr Rosie Paice, said: “Bethany was valued as a quiet and conscientious student who was happiest discussing ideas with her classmates.
“She inspired close friendships in and out of class and I know how much those friends will miss her.”
Grant Clarke, president of University of Portsmouth Students’ Union said: “Bethany was a first year English with Psychology student; she was involved in the political union society at the union, enjoyed poetry, and had many friends across the university.
“A tragic event like this affects us all, and it is at times like this that the spirit of mutual support within our community becomes so important.”
