Broad Oak man arrested in police drug raid

Around 60 officers from across East Sussex were involved in a series of pre-planned raids on four properties in Hastings and St Leonards, two in Bexhill and one in Broad Oak.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of various drug offences.

A 32-year-old Broad Oak man was arrested under suspicion of money laundering and possession of cannabis and a suspected controlled drug after the discovery of £6,000 cash and drugs at his property.

He was later released on police bail until October 9.

A 49-year-old man from Bexhill and a 19-year-old man and woman were arrested under suspicion of cultivating cannabis following the discovery of cannabis factories in Bexhill and Hastings.

All three have been bailed by police until September 28.

Rother District Commander Chief Inspector Katy Woolford said: “Monday’s operation further instils our dedication to tackling drug cultivation and use, across both Hastings and Rother Districts.

“Utilising resources in this kind of close cross district work gives us much more scope to hit criminals when they least expect it and I’d like to thank all officers involved as well as local communities who report suspicious activity to us, because of you we have once again removed a large quantity of drugs from our streets and sent out a message to the criminal fraternity that it will not be tolerated.”
