Broadside is fired over work for A27

MOVES by regional transport bosses to 'tinker' with small-scale road schemes rather than implement major improvements to the A27 at Chichester, Arundel and Worthing have run into all-out opposition.

West Sussex County Council members at Friday's meeting were told that the Regional Transport Board was suggesting an incremental approach to the delivery of a package of small measures to complement major projects such as the A27.

Cllr James Walsh said he strongly urged the cabinet member for strategic planning and transport '“ Cllr Derek Whittington '“ to resist tinkering with small schemes on the A27.

"They will be passed off as a contribution to improve the A27 and will put off further and further the increasingly overdue major improvements for the A27 in West Sussex," he said.
