Broken down train causes long delays on Charing Cross line

RAIL commuters faced rush hour delays after a train broken down at Stonegate.

The problem caused a knock-on effect with subsequent trains on the Hastings to Charing Cross line delayed or cancelled and a bus service between Hastings and Tonbridge

Rail operator Southeastern said: “The line between Hastings and Tonbridge has opened using one line only. A minimum of two trains per hour will be able to run towards London and more will made available as soon as possible.

“Due to a failed freight train at Stonegate a replacement bus service will be in operation in both directions between Hastings and Tonbridge.

“Southern train services are conveying Southeastern customers via any reasonable route.”
