Brothers save rugby ref after heart attack
THE LIFE of a Worthing Rugby Club referee was saved on Sunday by quick-thinking colleagues after he suffered a massive heart attack on the pitch.
Richard Short, 57, was refereeing a friendly match between Worthing Raiders Academy and Worth School when he collapsed 20 minutes into the game.
Michael Dingle, 16, a Worthing College pupil of Lloyd Goring Close, Angmering, immediately recognised that something was wrong and put Richard into the recovery position while older brother Mark, an emergency care support worker for South East Coast Ambulance Service, ran on from the touch line.
