QUILTS: I had the pleasure of visiting the quilt show at the village hall last weekend and I have to say how amazed I was by the quality and quantity of the exhibits. We certainly have some very talented seamstresses in our village. There were 46 quilts on show of various sizes, all beautifully crafted and some very colourful, some were done as doubles, singles even cot size. All were to be proud of producing. Congratulations to all the ladies involved in what was an amazing exhibition. Over 220 people visited the show. A special quilt made by the late Shirley Kerr and finished by the ladies of the group was raffled with proceeds going to Hospice in the weald.
BOWLS: Last week the club members played for the Pegeric Cup, which was given the club by the late Eric Godley and his wife Peg when the club first started 25 years ago. This is always played as a knockout and often produces some unexpected results. This year 12 members were able to enter and had a great evening. The eventual winner was Alan Green who beat Mary Taylor in to second place. Well done to him and thank you to everyone who played and made it such a great evening. Our thanks also to those who also helped with the marking of the matches. The club will hold their AGM on Monday in the village hall at 8pm. Friendly matches continue to be played as the clubs year draws to an end.
