Despite the poor turn out for the table top/ afternoon tea event last Saturday we made over £117. We are grateful for those loyal supporters who came and to all the stall holders for their determination to enjoy the event. The village hall will be running a Christmas hamper raffle at the Burwash Festive evening next week. Then fund raising will stop until the new year.

The Burwash Primary school will be holding their annual Christmas Fair tomorrow (Saturday) from 2 to 4pm in the school. There will be a lucky programme draw to win a festive hamper, Father Christmas will be visiting, a raffle & tombola will be run. Lots of crafts in the Elves workshop, guess the Teddy’s name, hunt for Rudolph, gifts and lots more. Entry is free.

The walk for strollers will take place on Wednesday morning leaving the Bear car park at 9am. This is an easier paced walk for those who enjoy the fresh air and company but can’t manage the parish footpath walk. Ijon Jenner will be your guide, and he will be pleased to have your company.

Also on Wednesday, Burwash with will holding it’s Festive Evening. The fun begins at 4.30pm and continues until 8pm. Christmas stalls will be in the Bear from 4.30pm, other attractions include face painting, Santa’s grotto, BBQ, a magician, confectionary stall, a choir, drummers, and magicians show at 7.15pm in the scout hut. Next Sunday afternoon, 8 December, the Christmas Charity prize bingo will be held. The doors open at 2pm for eyes down at 2.30pm. Lots of seasonal prizes including several of the much coveted home made christmas cakes. Entry is free and £1 buys one book of 12 games giving 24 chances to win a prizes. This is a great fun event for all the family to enjoy. A raffle and refreshments will also be on sale. All proceeds will be given to the Christmas Day lunch for those who will be on their own. Bookings are already being taken for the Christmas Day lunch. This open to anyone who will be on their own on Christmas Day, be it a single person or a family who will not be with other people. We are pleased to welcome anyone, last year we ranged in age from 9 to 90 and had a really wonderful day. £10 a head includes a delicious freshly cooked three course lunch with extras, drinks and festive goodies, fun and friendship. Cards - The Burwash Brownies will again be delivering Christmas cards around the village. Thanks to the kindness of Tesky & Barbara in the News Agents and the Jarvis Family at the Butchers we will be putting the boxes out early next week. We have reduced the cost of posting each card to 20p, you can put money and 20p per card into the boxes. Last post is Friday 20 December at 4pm, for sorting. Delivery will take place from 10am on 21 December. Please make sure to address the envelopes clearly and only the local area will be delivered.
