Today is National Care Home Open Day, and Dudwell St Mary’s invite you to join them for their Midsummer Nights Party, from 11am to 5pm. A tour of Dudwell St Mary and refreshments at 11am Afternoon activities include motivation and music/dancing, jive act, local school chior, tea cake & buffet. Best dressed fairy competition. Dudwell st mary’s is on the Etchingham road just before Borders lane.

Tonight the new Rummicub club will start in the Pavilion at Burwash Common. This interesting skillful game will give your mental powers a workout and give you a lot of fun too. They will meet at 7.30pm. For more information please call Halina Keep on 01435 882183.

On Sunday it is the Burwash Open Gardens, so nice weather please!. There will be at least twelve of the gardens on the high street open for the public to wonder around. Refreshments, craft stalls, tombola and other stalls will be at Mount House. The big raffle will be drawn at the end of the day. Tickets are on sale at the Burwash Newsagents and on the day, with first prize £100, second prize is 4 tickets for the British tourong car championships at Brands Hatch, with lots of other amazing prizes too.

Also on sunday there will be an AC car rally at Bateman’s from 11am to 4pm. This rally features AC cars, Britains oldest manufacturer with unique distinction of being produced since 1901. entry will be by normal admission to Bateman’s charges. Ideal day out, visit the cars in the morning, have lunch at Bateman’s or one of the local pubs and do the gardens in the afternoon.

On monday the Age Uk Burwash branch will be having their monthly lunch club meeting at the Bear Motel from 12noon. If you are 55 and over and would like to join them for a delicous two course meal for £8, you need to call Jazz Botting on 01435 882033, Heather Lewis on 882080 or Maddie Ashbee on 883233.

A Midsummer walk and supper is planned for monday evening at Bateman’s. For £25 each you can join the warden on a guided walk of the 330 acre estate following in the footsteps of Rudyard Kipling, followed by a hearty supper in the Mulberry Restaurant. Booking is essential on 01435 882302, wearing walking boots and other suitable footwear & clothing is advised.

On wednesday the friends of Burwash Surgery will be holding their AGM at the Amenity Room at Christ the King Catholic Church at 7.30pm. They would welcome new members who are able to help with transport of patients to the surgery or one of the hospitals sometimes. Why not join them and see what good work they do.

On Saturday 6th July there will be Ramble for a Rector. This is a sponsored walk and treasure hunt for adults & children. A five mile walk with 2 treasure hunt prizes. Cream teas, barbecue, drinks & fun at the Swan Meadow playing field. Entry forms are available from the church, broadsheet, the flower house & the newsagents. more details soon.
