Also on Monday evening there is to be a special supper at the Bear to raise funds for the Soldiers Shoeboxes, which Shirley Viney organises to send much need bits and pieces to our soldiers in war zones. If you have not booked your meal it is too late but you can still get involved by giving prizes for the raffle or donations towards the items Shirley needs to buy for the boxes. She is always pleased to receive any empty shoe boxes that you no longer require. Call her on 882497.

There have been quite a few pleas for dog owners to become more responsible. The Burwash Etchingham scout group have problems on the small piece of green land just outside their group headquarters in the car park, the Church wardens of st Bartholomew’s church are also asking that dog owners step up to the mark and act responsibly, and always in the playing fields it is a problem. Please if you take you dog out and they make a mess clean it up and take it home or put it in the bins provided. thank you .

Last week the Burwash short mat bowls club played their club mixed singles cup match, playing for the Pegeric cup. Because of illness only 12 players took part in what was probably one of the hardest fought competitions ever. All who took part excelled with some really close results. The final was fought out by husband and wife Mary & Barry Taylor with Barry the winner despite not having played for over a year because of illness. Well don to him and all who took part. The club finished 5th in the Wealden League first division this season.

Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting of the Burwash Weld & Common Memorial fund playing field and the Burwash Common pavilionclub, on Friday 17th May, at 7.30pm in the Pavilion. All are welcome to attend
