Thank you to everyone who supported the afternoon tea event at Mount House last week. Over sixty people went along to enjoy the cream tea and homemade cakes. A tiring but enjoyable afternoon for the organisers, but well worth it for The Admiral Nurses home care team with the £853 that was raised. A big Thank you to Lynda and Richard Maude-Roxby for the use of your beautiful home.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the Burwash Guides and Brownies will be holding one of their jumble sales. It will take place in the Burwash Village hall at 2pm. As well as jumble there will be books, bric-a-brac, tombola cakes and a raffle. All proceeds will go to the Groups funds, so why not go along and see if you can fine a bargain.

The next Parish footpath walk will take place on Monday morning. You are all very welcome to go along and join in. The walk starts at the Bear Car Park at 9am from where Roger Cloke will lead you over the network of public footpaths that cross the beautiful countryside of our three villages. As spring approaches what better time to see the new growth and the nesting birds etc. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept under control.

The members of the Not so Young club will meet on Thursday afternoon at the Burwash village hall at 2.15pm. Their speaker this month is Mrs Kinnerson-Bourke, who’s talk is called Dorothy in the Workhouse. Tea and a raffle will end the afternoon. Guests and visitors will be given a warm welcome at this club for the over 60’s.

On Sunday 24th March, Burwash’s One Man Theatre will be performing The Passion Story at the Etchingham Village Hall. at 3pm. Tickets are £8 and are available from Brian, contact him by email at [email protected] or in writing to Brian D. Barnes MBE, Vines Cottage, School Hill, Burwash TN19 7DZ. Anyone who has seen one of Brian’s unique performances will know what a tremendously talented man he is. He has performed all over the world and some of his stories of those performances are quite astonishing. You are all sure to enjoy his portrayal of this story.

Given up chocolate for lent? Then the new postal quiz which is selling well is just what you need. There is still time for you to obtain a copy and get you chocolate fix without breaking your fast, as all the answers are sweets and chocolates. The deadline has been extended until May 1st, to enable us to sell as many as possible for such a worthy cause, The Burwash Get Together Lunches for the senior members of our community.
