Business site gets £270,000 worth of new road signs

A total of 136 signs have been put up in the area as part of a ‘wayfarer project’ funded by local companies and councils.

Manor Royal BID, a group of local businesses, paid £90,000 towards the project; Crawley Borough Council put in £30,000 and the remaining £150,000 was contributed by West Sussex County Council.

The signs include monoliths at key entrance ways, vertical road markers, pedestrian map boards and colour-coded street name signs. Lamp-post banners have also been placed along the main avenues.

West Sussex County Counci leader, Louise Goldsmith, said: “West Sussex County Council is fully committed to being a champion for the diverse and highly productive West Sussex economy. Manor Royal Business District is a vital source of jobs and wealth both for Crawley and the wider area. Our support of this project, and the Manor Royal BID, is a clear demonstration of our commitment.”

Crawley Councillor Peter Smith said: “We have long recognised the importance of the Manor Royal Business District for the significant contribution it makes to the local economy. The introduction of new signage and wayfinding is part of a shared effort to make sure the Business District is well-branded and easy to navigate.”
