Businesses urged to join Christmas appeal

THE Salvation Army in Horsham is appealing to businesses to get involved with their Christmas campaign this year.

The annual campaign, which will be supported again by the West Sussex County Times, aims to help people who cannot afford the luxuries others will enjoy over the festive period.

As well as their Christmas lunch, the church puts together toy parcels for families unable to buy their children presents.

They also provide food parcels with Christmas pudding, mince pies, crackers and other treats to make Christmas special.

Captain of the Horsham branch, Ian Woodgate, said: “Last year Southern Water sponsored it.

“We are looking for businesses to be outlets for people to deliver things to, become part of the appeal, raise our profile about it and contribute toys and food.

“Last year some businesses said they weren’t going to send Christmas cards, but give a donation to the Salvation Army instead.

“Others held raffles and all the supermarkets contributed. We had food from Waitrose, Marks and Spencer, Tesco and Sainsbury’s and Truffles donated food.”

Any businesses which would like to sponsor the campaign, give a donation or find out more information can contact The Salvation Army at their centre on 01403 254624.

Look out for the campaign articles which will run in The County Times in the run up to Christmas.
