Cabaret fun at Mayor's charity dinner dance

A charity dinner dance was held by Town Mayor Councillor Patrick Douart and the Mayoress, his wife Maureen, at the Cooden Beach Hotel.

The event raised funds to assist in the rebuild of the 9th Bexhill Scout HQ which was destroyed in fire - this is the Mayor's chosen charity during his year in office as he hopes to help refit the new premises for the scouts.

The dinner dance included a cabaret which showcased some unusual local talent.

"It was an extremely good evening," said Patrick afterwards.

"I would like to thank David and Carol Adams because they did a magical act - with the participation of Cllr Robert Wheeler, Matthew Dargan, Bernie Dargan, Eric Dennis and Stuart Earl. They were very comical, and David and Carol dressed them up. I thought it was really great.

"Everybody had a very good time and it went on until after midnight at the Cooden Beach Hotel - I would like to thank James Kimber and his wife for their generosity, the food was superb and everything really nicely planned.

"We are going to have the Mayor's Ball at the Cooden Beach Hotel as it is such a good venue - it will be on Saturday April 25, and I hope all those who enjoyed themselves at the dinner dance will come back."

Over 600 was raised by a raffle and auction which included a photograph donated by Brian Hazell and a painting given by Jackie Bialeska.

Patrick added: "I would like to thank all those who attended and supported the Mayor's charity dinner dance from which money raised will be going to the 9th Bexhill Scout group."
