Camber hotel gives staff a slice of yearly profits

A hotel in Camber has changed its pay structure to become one of only a few in the UK to pay their staff £9 or more per hour.

The award-winning restaurant and hotel no longer adds service charge to the bill but has made some amendments to the menu pricing.

Owner Harry Crago said he is passionate about creating an environment where his staff feel and know they are really valued as an integral part of the hotel and will enjoy the benefits of its success.

“It is very important for us to ensure every staff member at The Gallivant knows how much they contribute and are valued, from the team who clean the rooms, to the kitchen porter right through to the amazing waiting staff and sous chefs,” he said.

“They are all vital roles, and contribute to making The Gallivant such a success.”

The Gallivant was praised by the SRA when awarded the top accolade of three stars in July for its commitment to staff training and management

The hotel is currently undergoing a rolling renovation, with 20 new rooms being completed by mid-spring.
