First I would like to say how saddened we are at hearing of the sudden passing of Pam Sayles and would like to say our thoughts are with Colin and his family at this very difficult time.

There was another marriage at the church last Friday. Clare Coates and Daryn Spearing made their vows to each other on a day when it looked like the heavens would open any minute. They didn’t though. We wish them happiness and joy as they embark upon this new stage of their lives together. Bill Perfitt took on responsibility for leading and speaking at the family service in church on Sunday. The congregation was rnlarged by holiday makers and the service was special. Well done to Bill, it’s not easy to pull almost everything together single handed. Sunday’s service will be taken by Rev. Kay. There will be communion as usual. A fascinating small scenario has been described to me linked with the church. Two women carrying gardening gear were seen approaching the church last Friday. Disbelief spread across their faces as they viewed the church, a wedding was about to start. They stood transfixed muttering about, ‘terrible timing.’ They came to decision and as soon as the strains of the first hymn wafted from the church, they catapulted into action. They set about that small garden with formidable energy. There were weeds and dead plants disappearing like magic. One of the gardeners flew off quietly but determinedly and pulled the green bin round, it was soon full to overflowing with plant debris. Did they really think that they could finish that garden before the ceremony ended? Well, let me tell you, just as suddenly as they arrived, they disappeared. The gardening equipment was back in their shopping bags and with rather smug expressions on their faces they evaporated as quickly. The little garden looked quite spruce. Would the bridal party notice? Probably not, but someone did. Well done ladies.I was told that someone was responsible for that little patch of garden, but it hadn’t been attended in months and the phantom gardeners had decided it was time. They chose the worst possible moment though, bang in the middle of a wedding. For Friday 21st September. There will be Parish Communion at 10.30am

On Sunday morning. There’s a cuppa after the service if you have time. It’s Harvest Festival next week. If you want to contribute any gifts, take them to the church on Saturday morning 29th September, the will be warmly received. Any food or produce gifts, big or small are appropriate. They will be auctioned, the proceeds going to Farm Africa. The Harvest Supper is on Monday 1st October at 6pm. For £3 person and half price for children under 12, payable at the door, its terrific value. The shepherds pie is tasty, the apple pie irresistible and there’s a vegetarian option available too! The auction is really good fun.

Extend keep fit class with Vanessa 12.30 - 1.30pm Wednesdays , lots of fun , although I hav,nt been yet. (but never say never) It is also suitable for the disabled.

You can always hire the hall when it is available for your functions and parties, and with its recent refurbishment it is an excellent venue for wedding after parties as( yours truly) can vouch for.

Camber Country was another great success last Saturday at the Memorial Hall , The popular duo Johnny Neal & Pam Bailey entertained 65 people with 2 sessions the first was popular country classics followed by a sing-a-long , there was even some Rolling Stones music included.

It was good to see Tudor and his team from the Gallivant flying the flag for Camber with their delicious offerings of Rye Bay Soup at the Hastings Seafood and Wine festival at the weekend.
