There was a wedding in the church and later in the evening another couple had their reception in the Memorial Hall. There was a beautiful and traditional marriage in the church between Sandra and Steven, what wasn’t so traditional was the vehicle the bride arrived at the church in. It was a Land rover Discovery. Later in the Memorial Catherine and Matt held their reception. I (Larri) am in fact writing the column his week for Chris Avery whom you may remember is Catherine’s father. Picking up on the non traditional transport, Catherine and Matt’s wedding had a fifty’s theme. Alongside the Memorial Hall there were three vintage VW camper vans, probably the star attraction a 1951 Jaguar XK 120, sports.Bright red. Also outside was a fish and chip van, serving all the guests, fish, chips and mushy peas. They smelled good. The hall was decked out in red and white polka dot bunting and all the guests in 50’s clothes. The women looking amazing in those circular skirts nipped in at the waist with big net petticoats underneath. Catherine looked stunning in her white one. I’m not brave enough to describe the mens efforts! So, congratulations to both couples, we wish you happiness.

The Extend Exercise Group starts again next Wednesday at 12.30 for an hour. Remember that it is for the over 50’s, and suitable for the disabled. You can work at your own comfort level, sitting if that works for you, or more enrgettically, joining in the occasional dance. The first session is free, so give it a go. It’s a great little group, and good fun.

Dan our Police Community Support Officer has filled us in with some of his experiences over the last couple of weeks. I quote, ‘Its been very busy for us at Camber this week, with lots going on. Operation Radcott, the summer policing operation in Camber has been in full swing, with some very busy days. The Rother District Council staff we’re work in partnership with, worked tirelessly to get vehicles in and out of car parks, deal with missing children, and first aid incidents, to name but a few. Just a couple of stories, a baby, extremely poorly was taken from Camber by ambulance to hospital under police escort to get through the queueing Camber traffic. The other incident involved an adult male who became trapped in the sand at the Western end of the beach after digging a large hole, the sides caved in. An emergency fire appliance that had been on display at the Horse and Dog Show at Salts’ Farm had to try to attend because it had heavy lifting equipment, but after fighting with the queueing traffic they were stood down after the male was dug out by Operation Radcott Officers and members of the public. These examples demonstrate the diversity of the work we do. I have also been travelling round the local schools teaching children about beach safety and the importance of not digging big holes in the sand on the beach. On the negative side this week, a vehicle was broken into whilst parked in Lydd Road, a handbag being stolen from the boot of the car. Another car was broken into whilst parked on Broomhill car park. This is a popular car park for kite and wind surfers. Crime prevention notices have been put up and regular patrols made through the car pars.
