Camel Ye Faithful

The organisers of the Barn got more than they bargained for when they invited Keith the Camel to their monthly children's Service.

Keith, who came without his keeper, proved to be quite a handful. The organisers spent Sunday afternoon chasing him round the church and clearing up his various deposits. Keith then refused to come out of the vestry for the start of the service. Frantic attempts to coax him out of his hiding place merely resulted in a loss of dignity for Jim Truscott and Nick Burton, the service leaders. The organisers were about to cancel the service when Keith finally decided to meander out, to much applause from the 36 children and families patiently waiting in St Barnabas church.

The organisers thank the owners of Fancy Pants of Bexhill for making the camel available. Rumour has it that Keith will be returning to Bexhill next week on Friday December 4 for late night shopping as the Barn holds an Advent Treasure Hunt, starting at C-Side at the sea end of Devonshire Rd from 5 pm.
