Campaign group opposing revised Angmering plans

House-builder Barratts has reduced the number of homes it plans to build in land east of Roundstone Lane from 150 to 139.

The application comprises 30 per cent affordable homes, as well as access, landscaping and associated works.

But the proposals have proven controversial in the village, with hundreds sending letters of objection in response to the previous application for 150 homes.

However, because the plans have now been revised, those wishing to object to the proposals will need to submit new objection letters.

Sue Ware, from Save Angmering Village, said: “We’re most concerned at the moment about Barratts’ plans and are waiting for their next move.

“It’s important that people objecting against the plans contact Arun’s planning department.

“Please don’t leave it to others to do. As at March 16 there are only 67 objections – this is one-tenth of the objections to the original 150 houses.”

The local plan sub-committee is recommended to approve plans for 600 homes to be built in Angmering.

The Save Angmering Village group has objected to this figure on numerous grounds, including a lack of infrastructure and the fact Angmering is prone to flooding.

The group also says the need for 580 homes has not been adequately proven.

Those wishing to send letters of objection to Arun District Council need to do so by March 27.
