Car club's £500 for Glyne Gap

MEMBERS of the Bexhill 100 Motoring Club have brought happiness to Glyne Gap School in the shape of a giant cheque for £500.

The school was the only one out of four recipients sharing the 2,000 profit on the club's 2006 classic car show in Polegrove not to be able to attend the pre-Christmas presentation evening.

When club members Alan Wilkins, Dave Dickens-Smith, Peter Novak and Roger Gillett attended the school to hand over the cheque they took their cars with them.

Eager youngsters were soon behind the wheel of Roger's Lanchester and Dave's 1961. They were all over Alan's Renault Dauphin and Peter's soft-top Triumph Herald.

Dave had the pleasure of presenting the giant cheque to Glyne Gap pupil Phoebe.

Club treasurer Charlie Rowland presented the real cheque to school support worker Laurie.

The club members presented the school with a souvenir show programme and loaned them a copy of the DVD of the show.

Dave Dickens-Smith said later that the club had been pleased to support the school and were delighted to meet the children.

The club draws its membership from both Bexhill and Hastings. Plans are already underway for this year's August Bank Holiday classic car show in Polegrove.

Other recipients of the 2006 profits were Bexhill Talking Newspaper Association, the League of Friends of Bexhill Hospital and Cuddle Bunnies
