Carry on twinning say group members

Carry on twinning was the message from the members of a Bognor Regis group.

They re-elected Allison Merriman as the chairman of the town's twinning association for her second year in the role with Heather Perrott again serving as her vice-chairman.

It was also a case of same again for the committee members at the association's annual meeting. All were elected for another term of office apart from Thea Sydenham and Roger Leet who were chosen to fill vacancies.

The annual meeting took place in the town hall. Members were given a resume of last year's activities and the successful visit to Weil am Rhein as well as the full programme of social events for this year.

On behalf of Bognor Regis Music Club, Eddie Saunders talked about his club's plans to visit Weil am Rhein '“ one of Bognor's German twin towns '“ for a joint music festival in May.

Meanwhile, plans are well advanced for the association's first social event of the year tomorrow,to which members of the public are also invited.

It is an evening of light-hearted German theme music, called A Little Night Music with Words, with a light buffet at the Jubilee Hall, Chalcraft Lane, North Bersted 6 at 7.30pm.

This is being presented by three local musicians '“ Tom Jeffers, Annita Lemon and Frank Pattison. Tickets cost 8 each. They are available on the night or from Pat Clevett on 01903 714922.

This evening of entertainment is being held to promote the association to as many residents as possible and raise funds to enable the independent twinning organisation to continue its links to St Maur des Fosss in France and the German town's of Weil am Rhein and Trebbin.
