Cash donation bolsters Littlehampton causes’ coffers

THE Littlehampton Carnival may have passed by. But six community groups have been feeling the positive benefits of the summertime event as they shared £2,000 from organisers.

Members of the Littlehampton Carnival Association invited youngsters to take part in a ceremony, at the St Catherine’s Church Hall, in Beach Road, last week.

The cash windfall came from donations and funds raised during this year’s carnival celebrations. The 2013 beneficiaries included the New Highfield Residents’ Group’s youth section and disabilities charity Raydar – which both received £500.

Cheques for £250 were given to the Littlehampton division of the Nautical Training Corps TS Implacable, Littlehampton Sea Cadets from TS Sussex, Littlehampton Army Cadets and 1087 (Arun Valley) Squadron of the Air Training Corps.

President of the carnival association, Freda Hughes, said: “We were really pleased to donate to these causes which support the town’s young people.”

Ashley Lamb, of New Highfields Residents’ Group, said: “It was amazing. We were totally shocked. We never expected that much to be donated.”
