Cash on tap to help make Littlehampton Bonfire Night a real cracker

Between them the two companies have donated £1,000 to the Littlehampton Bonfire Society’s coffers to help it fund the event, on Saturday, October 26.

The money will help pay for the fireworks display, which will light up the sky above the town once the torchlight procession reaches the huge bonfire on The Green.

This year, the procession will include Southern Water’s mascots Mr Drink-It and Mr Save-It.

Richard Cooper, the bonfire society’s secretary, said: “The event costs in the region of £25,000 to put on, so we are very grateful to Southern Water, BTU and all our sponsors for their donations.

“Every year we make sure we cover the whole costs of the procession and fireworks display so that every penny collected on the day goes to the charities we are supporting.”

Philip Jeyaseelan, of Southern Water, said: “Littlehampton’s Bonfire Night celebrations are a key event in the town’s calendar and the organisers rely on fundraising and donations to keep it going.

“We are delighted to be able to offer some support to this important community celebration and to take part in the procession.”

Ian Winter, of BTU, said the donation was a great way to give something back to the community the company served.
