Quiz Night: Great fun was had by all those who joined in the quiz held on Saturday evening in Catsfield Village Hall, it was enjoyed by 35 people and John Overall and his lovely assistant Debbie (sorry Jane), ran his audio visual quiz. John had a wide variety of categories including epic films, famous people, songs from the musicals, even the recent Catsfield Church Flower Festival and the most difficult of all, the years when notable events took place, which fooled most of the participants. Several teams took part, the winners, ‘Rods and Mockers’ had eight on their team while the wooden spoon went to a team of only three ‘The Pooh Brains’, quite a relevant fact I think! This was part of an on-going series of events to raise money for St Laurence Church at Catsfield.

Sports News: The quiz was all in good fun and a very necessary diversion for the football club Chairman, who had earlier witnessed a “tidy thrashing” when Catsfield lost 0 - 7 to Eastbourne away. One of our team was sent off and a couple booked in a rather unedifying performance. We hope for a better game tomorrow against Northiam at home.

Farming News: There are still tickets available for the Harvest Supper on 4th October, don’t let this traditional celebration of life in a farming village fail. I know a lot of the fields have been taken over by horses, but there are still farmers out there planting wheat, getting in a late crop of hay for their cattle and preparing the sheep for next spring’s lambing.

Mobile Library: The East Sussex County Council’s Mobile Library will be making its fortnightly visit to Catsfield and will be parked in the usual place outside the Village Hall on Wednesday 24th September from 3.45pm – 4.45pm.
