Don’t forget the guided wild flower walk in Powdermill Woods tomorrow afternoon, meeting in the car park in the woods at 2pm. It’s been a wonderful year for garden and wild flowers generally – at least something has enjoyed the wet winter – so there should be plenty to see on the walk.

The Catsfield School Fete is taking place tomorrow, Saturday June 29 from 12pm to 3pm at Catsfield School. Entry is 50p for adults and free for children under 16. Everyone is welcome... it’s not just for the school. All proceeds raised will go towards lighting and audio equipment for the school hall.

On a cold, showery afternoon deep in the heart of Brightling and with the added bonus of having the Chairman in the side, we had a splendid six wicket victory on Sunday. Chasing 126 to win wicket keeper Sean Tottman scored 19, Nigel Champion 53 not out and Tom Hammick supplemented his contribution of three splendid catches with a useful 9 not out making a total score of 129 for 4. Nick Gurr bowled very well ending with figures of 6 for 45 and Sanjay Sharma 3 for 67. We hope to play Crowhurst at home on Saturday.

The mixed stoolball team won the tournament at Robertsbridge on Sunday, their second tournament win. Another visit will be made to Brightling on July 2 when the mixed team play, followed by a home match on Thursday 4th against Civil Service.
