Next Saturday 1st December will be your chance to have an early taste of Christmas by visiting the St Laurence Church Christmas Market in the Village Hall. It starts at 10am until 2pm and Ploughman’s lunches and refreshments will be available. Entrance is 50p and children free. Father Christmas will be there as well as lots of stalls loaded with Bric-a-Brac, plants, cakes and books. There will be a raffle and plenty of games to challenge you. Do please come and support your Parish Church, your financial help is urgently needed to help raise money to cover the huge shortfall in the cost of maintaining our beautiful church – and have fun at the same time!

The East Sussex Mobile Library will be in its usual place outside the Village Hall tomorrow Saturday 24th November from 4.15pm – 4.45pm.

The posters are up and tickets on sale in the Village Shop for the show of the year, ‘King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table’. The cast are rehearsing hard for the performances on the 6th, 7th and 8th of December in the village hall, many people missed out last year because they left it too late, so its time to buy your tickets now before they’re all sold out.

Oh dear, another defeat for the football club this week. I am told we played well but lost 0 - 4 to Peche Hill Select. Perhaps we should try having a more exotic name. The President’s boots have been brought a little nearer to the door. Saturday we are away at Hawkhurst, let’s hope crossing the border will help.

The cricket club are finalising the fixture list for 2013 with great enthusiasm and beginning to organise the end of season dinner and AGM.

Farming is proving even more fraught with no settled period of drying weather. Two fields of beans planted was the only achievement last week with two more fields to go and 45 acres of wheat still to be planted. Driving around the countryside, you can see that although the rape has been planted, it is not doing well, even the pigeons are disappointed.
